what amazes me about reading Eliot NOW -- as compared to 40 years ago as a bemused freshman -- is that what seemed so remote and abstruse and HARD... now seems so dead-on-the-mark accurate, and the-way-it-is, and even, well, yes, self-evident??? Love your Rome slide show BTW (pause for nostalgic sniffle)
